THERAPY & talks
At MANUP?, we run free online sessions that help men better understand themselves. Each week we explore topics such as stress, trauma, relationships, confidence and identity, giving men practical ideas they can use in everyday life.
Alongside our men-only therapy-style groups, we also run monthly MANUP? Talks, educational sessions open to both men and women who want to better understand men's mental health.
We aim to run sessions every Thursday, 18:15–19:15 via Zoom.

Upcoming Sessions:
This session is open to anyone who genuinely wants to understand why so many men stay silent, even when life is falling apart behind the scenes. We keep hearing that men should talk more, but the reality is far more complicated. Men do talk, but only when the person listening actually knows what to look for.
Life can be challenging. This session explores how to handle setbacks, manage pressure and understand your reactions when things don't go to plan. You'll learn practical ways to build resilience and cope more effectively when life gets difficult.
This MANUP? Talks session focuses on something many men quietly struggle with. How to respond when someone close to them opens up about trauma or abu
Learn how self-belief, identity and purpose are connected, with practical tools to build genuine confidence and a stronger sense of self. Led by James Elliott and funded by MANUP?
A practical, down-to-earth session focused on what actually helps you get through pressure, setbacks, and difficult periods.
This MANUP? Talks session focuses on an issue that is still widely misunderstood and often avoided. Men as victims of domestic abuse.
In this session we explore how to understand and manage difficult emotions such as anger, stress and frustration. Learn practical ways to recognise what you're feeling and respond without letting emotions take over.
Supporting the people around you when things get difficult can be challenging. This session is about staying steady, present, and grounded without shutting down, overreacting, or taking everything on yourself.
A one-off Men Only session looking at loneliness, male friendship and why staying connected can get harder as we get older.
This MANUP? Talk is for anyone who wants to better understand why some men emotionally withdraw, and why constantly telling men to “just open up” doesn’t always work.
Claire Davis joins MANUP? for an honest conversation around stress, pressure, relationships, communication, burnout, and the reasons many men quietly disengage long before anyone notices something is wrong.
This sessions looks at exploring healthy relationships for men, including communication, boundaries, trust and managing conflict. Learn practical tools to build stronger, healthier relationships with partners, family, friends and colleagues.
Learn how to recognise the connection between physical health and mental health and discover realistic ways to look after both your body and mind.
Domestic abuse is often discussed through one lens, but the reality is far more complex.
For February's MANUP? Talk, we're joined by Dr Elizabeth Bates, Associate Professor of Family Violence and Abuse at the University of Cumbria, to explore what current research tells us about male victims of domestic abuse.
This men-only session with James Elliott MSc explores what gives life meaning, how our values shape our choices, and how developing a clearer sense of purpose can improve motivation.
Why might a man experiencing abuse not tell anyone what is happening? Why can asking for help be so difficult? And what can services, professionals, friends and family do to make it easier for men to speak?
In this MANUP? Talk, Professor Ben Hine will explore the realities of fatherhood after separation, including conflict, reduced contact with children and parental alienation, where a child’s relationship with a parent can become damaged or disrupted.
We're committed to helping men better understand themselves.
At MANUP?, we believe that understanding yourself is one of the first steps towards helping yourself. That's why we run free online therapy-style sessions for men, alongside our monthly MANUP? Talks, helping men and those around them better understand men's mental health.
Our therapy-style sessions are led by experienced mental health professionals and practitioners. Every session focuses on a different topic, giving men practical insights into subjects such as stress, trauma, relationships, identity, anxiety and confidence, with ideas they can take away and apply in everyday life.
You don't need a referral, your camera can stay off, and you're welcome to simply listen if that's what feels right. Sessions include the opportunity to ask questions, either during the discussion or at the end.
Our MANUP? Talks are different. They're educational events featuring therapists, researchers, charity leaders and people with lived experience, helping both men and women better understand the challenges men face and how we can all respond differently.
Thanks to the generosity of our fundraisers and supporters, every session is free to attend.
