  • University of Suffolk 19 Neptune Quay Ipswich, England, IP4 1QJ United Kingdom (map)

Throughout November, the Movember campaign throws a spotlight on men’s health.  Movember highlights that “A growing number of men – around 10.8M globally – are facing life with a prostate cancer diagnosis. Globally, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men. And across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 69% of all suicides”.(Movember webpage 2023)

At UEA we are committed to employee wellbeing and providing access to support. You can find out more by visiting the Men’s Health and Wellbeing Online Information Hub.

With a focus on men’s health, the Ask the Expert Webinar is open to all employees. I am thrilled to welcome three panel members who will share their own experiences and advice including:

  • Dan Somers: Founder and CEO of the men’s mental health charity MANUP?. Dan will share his own experiences of mental health illness and throw the spotlight on how men can open up to talk about their own mental health and the support that is available.

  • Vince Wolverson: CEO of Its on the Ball, a testicular cancer awareness charity based in Norwich, will discuss his journey with the illness, advise on the early warning signs to look out for and where to access support.

  • Aaron Vincent: UEA Sportspark Senior Fitness Adviser, is an experienced personal trainer who has helped people achieve their health and fitness goals. Aaron specialises in weight loss and improving body composition, strength, and physique, as well as nutrition coaching and planning. Despite being fit and active for most of his life, there was period in his 20’s where he became overweight, addicted to alcohol and substances, and suffered from depression. Through his own experiences, Aaron believes he is better able to emphasise with those who are not as fit or healthy as they want to be. Aaron will discuss his personal experiences of mental health illness and share top tips on nutrition.

I look forward to welcoming you to the webinar.
