We were asked to front a men’s group on the 17th May, as part of Sugar House Island’s week-long Mental Health Awareness Week programme, running Monday, 12 May to Sunday, 18 May. On the Saturday, it is just us, Dan and Jack, sitting down with whoever turns up, to talk about the stuff lads usually keep to themselves.
What goes on
Straight, no-nonsense chat about the pressures that stop men opening their mouths in the first place
How to spot the early signs of stress, burnout or a slide into the dark and what to do about it
Simple conversation starters you can use with a mate, brother or colleague the second you leave the room
A chance to share your own story or just listen, zero judgement
Who it is for
Any man aged 18 or over. You might live on the island, work nearby, or just pass through. No connection to MANUP? is needed, no one will ask you to spill your life story unless you want to.
What to bring
Just yourself. We keep it light so the session stays real. Tea and coffee will be on hand.
Stigma thrives in silence, so let’s bin the silence. See you on the 17th.
