Private event for Gallagher

Exploring the hidden pressures men face at work and why many struggle to speak openly about their mental health.

This is a private, non-public talk delivered by MANUP?, led by founder Dan Somers, for members of staff at Gallagher in Ipswich.

The discussion will explore the real barriers men face when it comes to opening up, including the stigma attached to showing emotion and the pressure to always appear strong, stable, and in control. It will also address the weight many feel as providers, alongside financial pressures and ongoing work stress that often go unspoken.

The session will look at how these pressures can lead to unhealthy coping mechanisms, including alcohol use and substance reliance, as well as the impact on anger management and emotional regulation.

The aim is to open up conversations in the group, around men’s health more broadly, including body image and the expectations placed on how men should look and feel.

These sessions are not recorded or open to the public. They are designed to create a safe, honest space for direct conversations with staff at Gallagher, recognising the pressures, responsibilities, and expectations that come with their day-to-day roles.

We share these events to highlight the work happening behind the scenes as part of MANUP?’s ongoing mission to challenge stigma and improve how we listen to men.
