MANUP? TALKS | MEN STRUGGLING AT WORK

  • MANUP? (ZOOM) Crockatt Road Ipswich, England, IP7 6RH United Kingdom (map)

This MANUP? Talks session focuses on a reality many men recognise but rarely say out loud. Struggling at work.

For many men, work is tied to identity, purpose, and self-worth. When things start to slip, pressure builds quickly. Men often keep going, stay silent, and carry on until something breaks.

Richard Knight has spent the past six years leading one of the UK’s most established workplace men’s health and wellbeing networks. Through this work, he has seen first-hand how men struggle at work, why they rarely speak up, and what actually helps when they do.

This session is not about blaming employers or blaming men. It is about understanding what is really happening beneath the surface and how workplaces can respond in ways that genuinely support men rather than manage them.

What this session will cover

  • Why men often struggle at work without saying anything.

  • The warning signs that are easy to miss or ignore.

  • What workplaces commonly get wrong when trying to help.

  • How men’s spaces at work can create safety and trust.

  • What has worked, and not worked, over six years of real experience.

Richard works in a mathematical role within a UK banking institution and spends his days working with data, spreadsheets, and reports. Outside of work, he is married with two young children and is a committed Christian. His perspective is practical, balanced, and rooted in lived experience rather than theory.
